Oneing: Nonviolence (PDF Download)
DETAILS
Established in 2013, ONEING is the biannual journal of the Center for Action and Contemplation. Renowned for its diverse and deep exploration of mysticism and culture, ONEING is grounded in Richard Rohr’s teachings and wisdom lineage. Each issue features a themed collection of thoughtfully curated essays and critical perspectives from spiritual teachers, activists, modern mystics, and prophets of all religions.
As the world’s violence worsens, and we drift closer to nuclear war and see the effects of catastrophic climate change, the Gospel summons us, more than ever, back to the way and wisdom of nonviolence,
that we might all become peacemakers, disarm one another, and save creation.
This issue of Oneing explores several angles on nonviolence as a way to deepen understanding. Each contributor has spent their life studying nonviolence and explaining its power, methodology, and spirituality. They encourage us to step up to the plate, to do our part to help create a new culture of nonviolence and justice. More, they will point us back toward our common unity as sisters and brothers with every human being, with all of creation, and, most astonishing of all, with the God of universal love and total nonviolence. Together, through nonviolence, we will increasingly realize that we are all one. Together, we will become the oneing we already are.
This issue features contributions from John Dear, Kelsea Habecker, Shane Claiborne, Richard Rohr, Rajmohan Gandhi, Daniel Berrigan, Joan Baez, Catherine Dowling, Ken Butigan, Kathy Kelly, Emmanuel Katongole, Maria J. Stephan, Marie Dennis, Archbishop John C. Wester, Shelley Douglass, James Finley, and Paul Swanson.
