Oneing: Emancipation (PDF Download)
DETAILS
Established in 2013, ONEING is the biannual journal of the Center for Action and Contemplation. Renowned for its diverse and deep exploration of mysticism and culture, ONEING is grounded in Richard Rohr’s teachings and wisdom lineage. Each issue features a themed collection of thoughtfully curated essays and critical perspectives from spiritual teachers, activists, modern mystics, and prophets of all religions.
In his introduction to this edition of Oneing, Fr. Richard writes: “The word emancipation [describes] a deeper, bigger, and scarier level of freedom: inner, outer, personal, economic, structural, and spiritual—all at once. Surely this is the task of a lifetime. Those who achieve this level of emancipation really are 'from another world' and, frankly, disturb and irritate those invested in smaller security systems. Precisely because they cannot be bribed by payoffs, punishments, and rewards, their insider/outsider status allows them to be fully and freely involved in this world. Their final and full freedom is that they do not need to buck the system or see themselves as outsiders or mavericks at all. They simply are.”
Explore the various meanings of liberation—inner, outer, personal, economic, structural, and spiritual—in this new issue of Oneing, the bi-annual literary journal of the Center for Action and Contemplation.
This issue features contributions from Richard Rohr, Rabbi Kenneth Chelst, Ilia Delio, Simone Campbell, Timothy Shriver, Rev. Paul Fromberg, Paula D’Arcy, and Mirabai Starr.
