Oneing: A Living Tradition
DETAILS
Established in 2013, ONEING is the journal of the Center for Action and Contemplation. Renowned for its diverse and deep exploration of mysticism and culture, ONEING is grounded in Richard Rohr’s teachings and wisdom lineage. Each issue features a themed collection of thoughtfully curated essays and critical perspectives from spiritual teachers, activists, modern mystics, and prophets of all religions.
In times of uncertainty and unraveling, contemplative traditions invite us deeper into the heart of Christian spirituality. Too often hidden, this living tradition reminds us that contemplation is not a fringe practice but Christianity itself, lived deeply.
“ONEING: A Living Tradition” was edited by Mark Longhurst, CAC's Digital and Print Publications Manager. The issue explores the living path through essays, poetry, and translation. Writers draw from the wisdom of the desert tradition, monastic renewal, and contemplative voices rooted in justice. Reflections on illness, recovery, and the shadow remind us that authentic spirituality embraces suffering and leads us more deeply into love and compassion.
This issue features contributions from Rachel Wheeler, Adam Bucko, Katie Gordon, E. Trey Clark, Cassidy Hall, Barbara Holmes, Richard Rohr, Carmen Acevedo Butcher, Douglas E. Christie, Elise Loehnen, Christine Valters Paintner, Kristin Vieira Coleman, Mirabai Starr, Brian McLaren, Alison McCrary, Drew Jackson, and Lee Staman.
